A Clay Day

Ever have one of those days when your feet feel like dry clumps of clay? You know the kind, although maybe you don't relate them to dry clay. They are the kind of days when you get out of bed and you just know it is going to be "one of those days".

Today, is a clay day for me. I have had a horrible cold the past week with little voice & it just isn't coming back, so I scheduled a little visit to my physician. I'm trying to get ready for a trip I need to take to IA this weekend and flights are just way too high for this trip. It looks like I will be putting about 600 miles on my van, so I scheduled an oil change for the morning. I needed to make 25 cupcakes for a funeral at church in the morning. Cupcakes are cupcakes ... ez, no time at all, yummy .... unless your hand mixer decides to quit working in the beginning of mixing your batter. I have class tonight from 6-10pm which is a "Foods Class". We have been invited to a Soul Food Dinner at someone's home. Sounds fun, but I feel terrible but have to attend, and looks like I will be buying cupcakes at the store while on my way to class. I'm not making cupcakes at 11pm tonight.

And so, my feet feel like clay today. Clumsy, dry, brittle steps that get me nowhere. I ache for some water just to refresh them and get me going again. Ever feel that way?

I was talking with a good friend after worship Sunday about "dry spells" in our faith. We talked about "feet of clay" for a bit. That when we feel that way, we ache for a single drop of water to be refreshed again.

2 Corinthians 4 talks a little about clay jars and persistance when we feel dry. Here is a little bit of water to moisten our feet:

(v. 7-10) But this precious treasure - this light and power that now shine within us - is held in persihable containers, that is, in our weak bodies. So everyone can see that our glorious power is from God and not our own. We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed and broken. We are perplexed, but we don't give up and quit. We are hunted down, but God never abandons us. We get knocked down, but we get up again and keep going. Through suffering, these bodies or ours constantly share in the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus may also be seen in our bodies.

Jesus invites us to run to him, with our feet of clay to be remolded and and reshaped by Him. He is the water the refreshes our feet, our entire being. I am sure my day & week will go better. I am certain that these are minor things in the scheme of things. I am also certain that Christ holds all our clay days in the palm of His hand and moistens them with His tears.

Why not run to Him and let Him cleanse them?

Rest in Jesus Arms Today ~
